My name is LaRaine Cihak, my husband Chris and I live off grid on 40 acres in SE Oklahoma. We collect rainwater as our main water source and have solar for our power needs.
In the year 2000 we moved to Nebraska from our home state of Texas. This is where our homestead journey started. We had a large back yard where we started a garden. We grew a good bit of our own food as well as foraging and hunting. To preserve our bounty Chris taught me to can! Since then, I have been canning and preserving our food.
Currently we have a garden filled with raised beds, a greenhouse and beautiful flowers. Along with our dogs and cats we also raise layer chickens, meat chickens and rabbits. We plan to add sheep to our homestead in the future. I love sharing knowledge, learning from others and building community.
